SCIENCE COURSES 2023
Surely I can just Google this or watch a You Tube video?
We know that Google and YouTube are both valuable resources to support learning. However, unless you know what you are looking for and the type of lessons that work for you it can take a long time to find something useful. Our Online Science Courses 2023 contain all the resources and teaching you need to cover a KS3 topic in one go, no research needed. Our course has also been developed to target the scientific language we know you will need to use confidently as you move into your GCSEs.
If YouTube is really your thing we do have an In My Element UK Channel – so you can also go and check this out too!
How will this really help me in my KS3 (Years 7, 8 & 9) Science curriculum?
Our Course is designed to cover a specific section of the National Curriculum for KS3 Science. They can be used in a variety of ways:
- to support and reinforce learning that has been covered in school
- as additional homework or Home Schooling resource
- to fill gaps due to absence from school
- to support and help a student who is struggling with a specific topic and needs further explanation.
We ensure we cover all the key scientific terminology required for KS3 and this gives a good building block ready for the start of GCSEs.
How is the content of the Science Courses 2023 structured.
Each Science topic is split into a series of between three and six lessons and finishes with a knowledge checking quiz. Each lesson has a presentation (no longer than 10 minutes), a supporting worksheet and an answer sheet. We recommend you watch the presentation once and then download (and save) the worksheet and complete it. If there are any of the areas that are tricky for you, then watch the presentation again whilst completing the worksheet. Once finished you can then mark it with the answer sheet.
The lessons should be watched in order as they are designed to flow from one to the next and build on concepts from the previous lesson. Each topic is stand alone so can be completed in the order that complements how you are being taught them at school.
How long will each course take? Will I have enough time for this?
Each lesson will take no more than 30 minutes to complete. This will depend on how hard the student finds the topic. We recommend that you complete one lesson at a time so that you maximise your learning. Some students have completed the lessons in pairs and have found this successful. You will have enough time for this if you set aside an hour each week to spend working through the lessons.
Am I going to have to print everything out?
No, you do not need to print everything out. Each lesson has a video presentation that can be watched in the course area, the worksheet can be downloaded and saved as an editable PDF and the quiz at the end of each course is online. If you can choose to print out the worksheet if you’d prefer.
How can I check the Science Courses 2023 have helped?
It is easy to check your progress and understanding by taking the end of topic quiz once you have completed the course. There is no limit to how many times you can complete the quiz so you can always pop back at a later date or before a test and recheck. How well you have completed the worksheet when you mark it will also tell you how well you have learnt or know the topic.
