Let’s Introduce our Teacher
My name is Kelly Mullenger and I qualified as a Secondary Science teacher in 2001 and since then have held many different, enjoyable roles. My main focus has always been helping my students to realise and achieve their potential, something which I am passionate about. I have always tutored as well as taught in a school, as I enjoy working 1 to 1 with students and know that so much more can be achieved by delivering a bespoke lesson to meet their needs.
I have been an Exam Marker for AQA and this has given me a great insight into frequent wrong answers and the misconceptions many of the students have.
As I became more well known locally, I have also been asked to tutor Maths, which complemented the Sciences too. Since 2014 I have been tutoring KS3 and KS4 Science and Maths and have achieved outstanding results with my students. I have worked in partnership with a number of Secondary Schools to deliver Revision Courses to help their groups of students become exam ready. I have also trained staff in delivering exam technique lessons, looking at higher-level questions and helping them to ensure students understand what the question is asking of them.
During my time of tutoring, I noticed that although there is a large amount of support and courses available for Primary children and GCSE students, there is very little for those just starting Secondary school in KS3 (Years 7, 8 & 9), particularly for Secondary Science education. So this is where the idea for In My Element came from. Then the pandemic hit.
Exams and tests are hard at the best of times and I understand how really difficult they must now seem after all the Covid restrictions and the subsequent disruption to education. To help 11-14 year old students, we have developed a fantastic revision resources for Key Stage Three (KS3) Science (Biology, Physics and Chemistry) to support students and to fill in any missing knowledge gaps.
